Meet the Team

Ernie Farrar

Pastor Ernie Farrar

Pastor

Pastor Ernie serves both Bath UMC and New Harbor UMC as a Part-time Minister. He leads services at both communities on Sundays, and splits his time during the week between the two locations and serving the parishioners as he is needed.

His passion is seeking a balance of boldness for the kingdom and a humility of being a human as a daily journey. He strives to fully live a life that is a seamless response to a relationship with God and others.

Ernie has 38 years of experience in the pastoral role, alongside his 22 years of service in the military. He served for four years in the United States Air Force and eighteen years in the Navy Reserve, with part of his time in the Navy Reserve split between the Marines and the Coast Guard. A large portion of his service was based at the Brunswick Naval Air Station in Brunswick, Maine, about 20 minutes from Bath.

As a Pastor, he loves going back to the spiritual basics as a way of renewing lives. He has served on approximately a dozen Tres Dias and Walk to Emmaus retreats over the years, and the Disciple Bible studies he has led have been an instrument of spiritual renewal for many.

Serving the youth and children in Christian leadership has also been a long-standing passion for Ernie as he has volunteered for 30 years as a counselor and dean for the camps held at Mechuwana in Winthrop, Maine. His love of soccer has resulted in his coaching elementary soccer camps as well as coaching in town and school leagues where he has lived.

Ernie is a devoted family man and has been married to Joan for 45 years, and they have three sons and ten grandchildren. He counts Grandpa as his greatest promotion. In the rare free time that he is not busy serving his community, his hobbies include hiking, vegetable gardening, photography, and woodworking.

If you are in need of pastoral care, or would like to learn more about our church and services, please feel free to reach out to Pastor Ernie using our contact form.

Lewis, Rian & Cheryl

Rian Lewis

Lay Leader

The lay leader is the primary representative and role model of Christian discipleship and faith lived out in the church and daily life. The lay leader works with the pastor to fulfill the mission and vision of the congregation. Every new lay leader brings unique gifts to the congregation.

Rian is especially gifted as a musician and regularly leads worship music on guitar, bass, and keyboard. Rian also serves as a supply preacher when the pastor is on vacation. Rian lives with his wife, Cheryl, in Woolwich, Maine.

Secretary Julie Ramsey

Julie Ramsey

Secretary

Julie has served as the church secretary since 2010. She manages the administrative work of the church, such as mailings, worship bulletins, church email, calendar, and database. Julie is in our church office part-time and is always happy to help any way she can.

Church Office Hours and Accessibility

We currently have an elementary school that runs out of the second floor of our church building, and therefore, the church doors are usually locked during the weekdays, even if we are there.

If visiting during Julie's office hours or to meet a person of the church committee or community, just ring the bell and they can meet you out front and let you in.

Please call ahead to make sure there isn't a change in our scheduled office hours.
